I wonder how they explain Matt 8:11?
I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
does anyone know of a wt or wt book, that states abraham will be tested again and then judged based on his deeds during the millenium?.
essentiallly claiming that, after god testing abraham, with the sacrifice of isaac, he will tell him that he has to pass the same test that the resurrcted unrighteous have to pass.
i know that this is a teaching that is required by holding to the 2 class belief, but i haven't found any artocles on it.. any ideas?.

Lisa, they are more ambiguous than that about the age of the universe. Regardless of what the mags say or don't say, find me a JW under 70 who honestly struggles with the thought of dinosaurs being alive hundreds of millions of years ago. Claim among a group of JWs that the universe is 13.72 billion years old, none will bat an eye. They even will talk about the Big Bang, as long as someone mentions that Gawd dun it.
In recent mags they even pointed out how silly young-earth creationism is.
some guys visited me a couple of times, and i asked them about the book of revelation.
one of them brought me a red book with a lot of illustrations and at the end of every page or so the guy had dated the day he had read it.
he also marked certain passages.
Buddy you don't need to draw pentagrams in it, just flip through it. Plenty of creepy stuff all the way through! Look closely at the more detailed pictures. Keep in mind these were painted by hand, by very skilled painters. What you see aren't mistakes. There's a few threads floating on this board from a long time ago talking about these.
Also, that book is chock full of golden JW stumpers. Only the most skilled and knowledgeable JW could sit through a whole weekly study in that book without being completely lost. Even against the most scholarly JW, in a discussion you could have him dancing around making excuses or being confused with some carefully chosen questions about that book.
Id say keep it, with a page of notes in the front of it in case you get a chance for a sit down with a JW in your house.
i was curious what might be some good things to say if i am questioned by the elduurs about my decline in fs.
anything too honest may get me a jc (although that would be for the best in the end..) the co visit is this week so they may be getting more agressive than usual.
Wow I like that. "Because I don't want to." Simple, to the point.
I also like the advice to NEVER let them get you on the defensive. Always keep the upper hand and control the conversation. Elders can't handle that.
Good thread!
look...i am not an atheist.
even so, i have never had one prayer answered my entire life.
the only thing that would even come close was learning ttatt.
So Enlightenment123, what credit does the doctor deserve who ACTUALLY cured you? What does the source of the contact info for the doctor deserve? Could you possibly have met with this doctor without having made this decision to let god handle things? And why did god let you get ill in the first place? If he made everything, he made your disease too.
In answer to the OP, no. I could never bring myself to be so selfish that I would want him to take time for me when there are literally billions of people suffering far worse than anything in my life possibly could be. Even as a JW child I never thought that was right. I only thanked him before dinner for the food my mom bought from the store, prepared and cooked.

Yeah just be very vague and non-committal. Don't get aggressive but stand your ground. Make no apologies, and don't act like your life is anything other than the best it has ever been. When I quit service, I was only regularly putting in 1-3 hrs, 0 everything else. Zero comments and the meetings, no "privileges". After 3 months 2 elders from my FS group came by.
I didn't say anything about why, just said I didn't like going out anymore. When asked why, just pull a Jesus and answer a question with a question. "Is it voluntary, or compulsory?"
Let them go through their guilt, fear and obligation routine (GFO), smile and nod. Thank them for their time and interest, you have their numbers when you need them. Decline all invitations to come out with them. Feed them some coffee and muffins, talk about the NHL and send them on their way. I haven't heard a peep since, and that was November 2012. Now on the group list it just has my wife's name, I'm not included at all.
Also, conviently they will likely stop giving you talks and any other privileges since you aren't exemplary. But seriously, dude, you NEED to drop those hours if you want to stop going out altogether. Don't make it such a surprise! Zero mags, zero everything except for a token hour or two until you are ready for the big donut.
im sure this is stretching it a bit and i have lived a sheltered life, however paragraph 8 of todays wt study of marriage of the lamb- says the king's (jehovah) daughter is the 144,000 as adopted children of jehovah.
they are to marry gods son jesus the bridegroom.. yes i know they are not blood relatives, but how often do you hear of adopted kids marrying within their adopted family of brothers or sisters?.
Yeah the pub. Talk and the WT today were both clearly making stuff up.
Halfway through the study the conductor paused and said, "Now what church can you go to that will give you an in depth understanding and study of psalm 45?"
I leaned over to my wife and whispered "well only the WT makes this bullshit up, so of course not." which was met with a dirty look then a smirk
just for the laugh.

2 mins 46 is a classic.
Love it
the jw date-worshipped memorial has just completed its bleak worldwide commemoration.
that wasn't a dust cloud you saw; it was a millionfold hearts limply beating themselves into another round of great tribulation expectations.
i was knocked into a deep, deep sleep by the imagined experience of being at several thousand consecutive kingdom halls as the platformed drones spat forth the predictable sludge that, once released, hits and stains white clothing and bleach is useless.. we know that memorial attendance worldwide has dipped for two consecutive years since 2011 when it reached a high of 19,374,737 and for the promised land, obama's usa, the all time memorial attendance high was also 2011 when it hit over 2.5million (2,563,518) but shrunk in shame back to 2,502,055 in 2012 and spluttered upwards a handful or two to 2,504,114 last year.. so, what was attendance at the date-obsessed bore-fest this year in your neck of the woods?
FAR less people at mine this year. Last year both back schools were completely full. This year the auditorium had lots of room, one back school contained the DFed ones.
And wow, was it ever boring. And how happified we were to have a regular meeting the night after! I think I've had my fill of meetings for a few weeks at least.
i want to see and hear peoples views on what we have seen.
i, personally, think it has been fantastic.
i hear many complain its not informative enough or its sugar coated or whatever but i think its brilliant for the mere fact that its dumbed down for us lamen folk...my wife still doesnt get some of it and i agree...but that, for me, shows how comex real life is....its not easy as many religionists believe.....
Love. This. Show.
I wish I had seen it when I was a kid, could have saved me years of confusion and superstition.
